For sale on behalf of one of our loyal customers, we are delighted to present a further MGB Roadster. OLE591E was registered in January 1967 and as an ‘E’ plate car, they’re quite seldom seen these days, given they were current only for the first part of 1967 before the annual registration changeover moved from January to August in that year.

Finished in Tartan red with black leather trim and fitted with overdrive, chrome wire wheels, heater, pack away hood and anti-roll bar, this car was first registered on January 4th 1967 and dispatched to the renowned MG dealers, University Motors of London the following week.

The car has been in local ownership for the last 10 years, of which we’ve maintained her for the last 5.  This MG benefits from a Heritage shell and judging by the huge A4 binder that accompanies the car, it has enjoyed a charmed life in the hands of its recent owners, one of whom was the Keeper of the Queen’s Buildings and a more recent custodian was one of the resident experts from BBC TV’s Antiques Roadshow!

Cosmetically, this MGB really is one of the best we’ve seen, with better than factory panel fit, lovely paint and brightwork, complimented by an interior in similarly excellent condition; the car has clearly been much loved and very well maintained – we have looked after her for the last 5 years, so we can attest that it’s as good underneath as it is on top.  This is a car that is maintained on a ‘money no object’ basis and always receives the best of everything, which makes it a car that we are very happy to bring to market. The only departure from standard is the smaller diameter leather clad steering wheel, which provides a much more satisfying driving experience.

The car comes with a comprehensive history file, covering expenditure and maintenance over the last 10 years, along with correspondence between previous owners.

Here at RH, we’ve maintained MGB’s since they were in series production at Abingdon and it’s our view that it’s a matter of time before they appreciate in value well beyond the £20,000 bracket; with the earlier ‘pull handle’ cars already moving into that territory. This car comes from the golden period of production before performance and character were watered down by the Leyland accountants.  As a 1967 registered car, this MG is eligible to attend all the best events on the classic motoring calendar, including the Goodwood Revival.

If you’re looking for a beautifully presented car that’s highly original is appearance, has been well restored and has been both well-loved and maintained by its long term owners, then we would highly recommend this MGB for viewing at our rural workshop just outside of Melton Mowbray.  You won’t be disappointed; we see many MGB’s come through our workshop and this is genuinely one of the best examples that we’ve encountered.

Go and look at others and then come and buy this one!
