About Us

RH Classics > About Us

Our history

RH Classics carries the initials of Richard Hodson.  Our business was established in 1979 by Richard’s father Barry, servicing and repairing what were back then just everyday cars.  In the intervening years we’ve built a reputation as experts in the maintenance and restoration of British and Continental sports cars; Jaguar, Austin Healey, Aston Martin, Porsche and Ferrari amongst others.  The quality of our work speaks for itself and we’re proud of our reputation.

Our team

Our small but perfectly formed team comprises traditional engineers and craftsmen who carry out much of our work in-house and on site from our rural Leicestershire base.  Our expertise includes everything from bespoke panel making, mechanical rebuilds through to trim and auto–electrics; in fact, everything from a service, fitment of a Tracker, to a concours winning restoration.

In the workshop you’ll find Richard, who established RH Classics in 2012, but has 20+ years expertise maintaining, restoring and racing a wide variety of British and Continental cars.  Richard is an exceptionally adept engineer, with extremely high standards of workmanship.

Rob is our resident technician, hailing originally from an IT background, he’s multi skilled, but give him a volt meter and he’s never happier.

Rich (aka Jodders), is our spanner man, with years of experience maintaining road and race cars, both in the workshop and in his spare time.

Kerry is our panel specialist; a wizard on the English Wheel who can create pretty much anything in a variety of metals using time-honoured traditions.

Eli runs the office and has the unenviable task of keeping the boys in check.  She’s surprisingly handy with a screwdriver too…

Lee looks after car sales & sourcing.  He’s a font of knowledge on post war sports cars;  but don’t ask him to make a cup of tea as you’ll only get half a cup.

How we can help you

It’s no coincidence that we maintain some of the world’s most desirable cars; we just don’t make a fuss about it.  Customers place their trust in us because we treat each car with the same level of care as if it were our own.  Our rural base, small team, straightforward approach and genuine passion for what we do ensures that we consistently deliver personal service, high quality work and value for money.

Our expertise and knowledge, means we can assist you with the sale of your current car, or help to source your next.  We have a network of contacts worldwide to help us locate rare and significant cars, both on or off market.  We provide a discrete professional service, from start to finish and our aim is always to source the right car, in the right condition, at a price that’s fair.

We offer secure, fully insured car storage at our dedicated facility and we’ve tailored a bespoke programme to keep your car on the button for when you’re ready to drive it and we can provide covered transportation nationally, working with our trusted partner.

Our business is built on the values of honesty and integrity.  We’re protective of the reputation we’ve built over the last three decades as being good people to do business with (and with another generation waiting in the wings, we’re excited at what the future holds)…

  • The team at RH Classics did an amazing job on my E type. I never dreamt that it would end up in the motoring press when it was advertised for sale, let alone with the caption “when only the best will do”. The quality of RH Classics work really is second to none.

  • I was introduced to RH Classics at the Silverstone Classic race meeting and having seen how well they had restored two Lotus 6 race cars I decided to use them to maintain my Caterham 7. They have undertaken a number of jobs, from basic servicing through to restoration and upgrades; all done to a very high standard and providing excellent value for money. I would happily recommend RH Classics.

  • I’ve been a customer of RH Classics since 2001; Richard has maintained all my cars – Aston’s, 911’s, Bristol 408, E Types, Mk 1,2 and 7 Jaguar’s and more recently, 289 and 427 Cobra’s.  RH’s work ethic, integrity and attention to detail is just what you’d hope for (but rarely see) in a historic car specialist. I was so impressed with the business, I became a part of the team last November.

  • I am a new customer of RH Classics and have been absolutely delighted with their service. I was lucky enough to purchase a 2008 Aston Vantage V8 from them in absolutely immaculate condition, shown to me by Lee Marshall who took me through the history of the car in detail. The test drive was a joy and I’ve been thrilled with it since. Post sales RH have been very attentive, they really look after their customers for the long term. They love their cars and customers and it shows. I highly recommend them.

  • Needless to say, I’ve been missing my car, but I know it’s being extremely well cared for at RH Classics’ secure vehicle storage facility. My 1989 BMW 320i Convertible is safe and well among a variety of other cherished cars, all far rarer and more valuable than mine. When I called in to visit, it started on the button and looked immaculate: peace of mind assured.
