Welcome to our third blog of 2020.
Our big focus last month was the launch of our brand-new website, on which you’ll be reading this, our latest blog; our new site has been put together to better showcase the wide range of services that we provide to owners of older cars – and with the recent lock down, our timing was probably immaculate, given that most of us will have to take our old car fix either on line, or in the garage, rather than on the road, so we hope you like the changes we’ve made!
The unprecedented impact of COVID 19 has somewhat curtailed our open-door policy and for the time being, we aim to operate as normally as is possible in these rather unusual times. We will be working within Government guidelines, which means we’ll be operating a skeleton team in the workshop, so please bear with us!
Every cloud has a silver lining and this period of self-isolation has given us the opportunity to knuckle down on existing projects; the engine rebuild on the Superleggera bodied Alfa Romeo 2000 is now complete and the car was heard running sweetly for the first time last week and by the time you read this will have had its first road test.
The Ferrari 308 GTB is progressing nicely and we’re now working on those myriad little things that seem to take up so much time, but we’re firmly on the homeward straight. Likewise, the 911 restoration is moving forward and the body shell is coming together, as is the Alvis TD21…
We’ve allocated quality time to the BMW E34 M5 Touring that Lee sourced in Holland; the paint work has now been refreshed, the wheels refurbished and we’ve sourced and fitted a treasure trove of new old stock parts courtesy of BMW Classic to bring it back to its 1995 glory, including a correct factory fitted BMW RDS radio cassette player to ensure absolute accuracy.
The Wolseley Hornet Eustace Watkins Special has also been receiving attention to the rear axle and the braking system, plus we’re having the wheels refurbished, which will make it road-ready for the 2020 event calendar; whenever that eventually starts….
Our focus on building up our portfolio of cars for sale means we now have no fewer than 9 classic cars for sale. Everything from vintage to Youngtimer, with budgets from £14,000 right up to £140,000, each car has been carefully selected by us to give maximum enjoyment for minimum outlay and significantly, every car we have for sale is personally known to us in the workshop.

On the car sourcing front, following months of searching, Lee located a super-original Series 2 E Type Drophead; the type of unmolested car that you just don’t see any more; you’d think that finding a good E Type would be easy, but this one proved rather elusive! We’re currently searching for a Porsche 964 Turbo, an E90 BMW M3 and an alloy dash 3.8 Litre E Type Coupe. Locating the right car in the right condition at the right price is what we’re here to do, so if you’re looking to source a special older car, then don’t hesitate to talk to us.
Last month, we welcomed more cars into storage this month; if you love your car and want it stored safely and securely, then please do get in touch, or to learn more about how we can help you, take a look at the car storage section of our site.
Summer’s just around the corner and hopefully, we’ll see a return to some level of normality, where we can all get back out on the road to enjoy our old cars. If you need any assistance for your car; from servicing, restoration, sales, sourcing or secure storage, please get in touch.
For us, it’s all in a days’ work and quite frankly, we love every minute!
