For sale on behalf of one of our valued clients is this lovely BJ7 Healey. This is a car that we know very well indeed, having completed a full restoration over a 6 year period from 2007.
Built on the 20th May 1963 and dispatched via the Austin Motor Company Personal Export Delivery to Canada on May 24th, the car spent its early life on the other side of the world before it came back to the UK where we embarked on a no-expense spared, ground up restoration for its current owner, of which include a photographic record of the work we carried out.
The car is presented in the definitive colour combination of Healey Ice Blue over Old English White, complimented by blue interior trim, all of which remains in immaculate condition, having settled beautifully and gently since the restoration was completed. Of particular note is the exceptional panel fit, a considerable area of focus for us during the restoration resulting in a car finished to a much higher standard than when it was first constructed back in 1963, with uniform shut lines around the doors, bonnet and boot that withstand very close inspection.
The car sits on original specification chromed wire wheels of the correct width – so many Healeys these days appear somewhat ‘overwheeled’, but this one looks and sits just right and likewise, the engine bay is presented in original specification and remains in lovely, mellowed order befitting its gentle use since completion.
We have considerable experience of maintaining, restoring and improving Big Healeys and this one drives beautifully, with a tightness and fluidity that reflects a carefully set up car in original specification.
If you’re looking for an exceptional Healey that’s been comprehensively restored, lightly used since, but immaculately maintained, this is genuinely one of the best cars on the market today. It’s finished (in our opinion) in the best colour combination and has a specification that’s both rare and desirable, being a BJ7 car, which means the lovely combination of big C series engine, but retaining the earlier and more characterful interior that was lost on the cars that followed.
There are certainly cheaper cars out there (and some considerably more expensive ones too), but this one represents very good value. Significantly, this is a car that we can sell with absolute confidence, because we fully restored it from the ground up and that means we know every nut and bolt on this car.
We would highly recommend viewing of this spectacular Big Healey at our rural workshops just outside of Melton Mowbray, where you can talk in detail to the people who worked on it during its’ restoration and have lovingly maintained it since then.
