RH Classics is delighted to bring to market this 1966 MGB Roadster on behalf of its owner.

This is an MG that’s very well known to us as we fully rebuilt it, utilising a brand-new Heritage shell back in 2008 and we have continued to maintain it for both of its owners in the intervening years, so we’re very happy to attach our name to it.

A home market car, built between 30th March and 4th April 1966, it was despatched to the MG appointed dealer W Watson and Company in Liverpool on 25 April of that same year before passing to its first owner.

The original delivery specification included a heater, Anti Roll bar, Tonneau Cover and Foldaway hood.  The car was also specified with disk wheels, but now wears a set of silver painted wires.

At the time of restoration, we decided to re paint the finished car in Iris Blue, rather than the original Old English White; a sensible decision as it really is a stunning period-perfect shade for an MGB that just highlights what a great looking car the Roadster really is.

The car was fully retrimmed in black leather, but at the request of the owner at the time, a later dash was fitted, featuring rockers rather than toggle switches, along with a Walnut veneer dash and matching Moto Lita steering wheel.  The interior and weather gear remains in immaculate condition and the cockpit is snug, yet purposeful.

From a mechanical perspective, we built and fitted a fast road engine at the time of the restoration and as a result, this MGB delivers crisp acceleration and handles beautifully, feeling tight and well set up, with an overdrive ‘box that adds to the usability on longer journeys.

Thirteen years on, the car presents immaculately, having had time for the restoration to settle. Lightly used, but exceptionally well maintained in the intervening years, it is absolutely on the button for its next custodian.

Accompanying the car is a history file containing numerous bills and invoices dating back over 20 years, along with images of the restoration in progress and a BMIHT build certificate. Delightfully, the original driver’s handbook is there too, nicely patinated!

In summary, an immaculate, early MGB that’s been thoughtfully and discretely upgraded for better day to day usability and most importantly, is a car with a very known provenance.  This MGB is beautifully presented, nicely sorted and well specified that needs nothing. Just lovely!

For sale and available for viewing at our rural workshops, just outside Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire.
