1973 Triumph TR6 – a true timewarp car!
RH Classics is delighted to present this stunningly original, low mileage, low ownership Triumph TR6 on behalf of its owner.
Built on 05 September 1972 and dispatched to Henlys of Manchester six weeks later on 17 October, this 150 BHP CP series TR6 is an original home market example, finished in rarely seen 106 Mallard Blue, with contrasting 78 Grey Ambla trim and black hood. The car also comes with a desirable, oh so 70’s vinyl covered matching hard top.
Specified by first owner Arthur Greaves of Oldham with disk wheels, overdrive, heater and static seat belts, the car was delivered to him on January 4th 1973 and he treasured the car for a further 6 years.
We’ve maintained TR6’s since they were almost new and in our opinion, this is one of the best examples we’ve ever seen. Having covered just 67,000 miles from new in the hands of 7 owners in 47 years , this matching numbers example is as good underneath as it is on top and betrays none of the deterioration or bodgery we so often see in cars of this age.
Having spent a couple of years off the road, it came to us as a thoroughly intact car that’s been thoroughly recommissioned, engine bay detailed and a recent decoke. This is a genuine timewarp car – it’s had work over the years, but never a full restoration and presents as an immaculate, ’proper’ car that’s full of period character.
It drives just as you’d hope; feeling tight and ‘factory’ in a way that only a well maintained original car can. Almost half a century old, it remains a hairy chested sports car that makes a great noise and is perfect for that B Road blast.
Accompanying the car is a superb history file dating back over 40 years, detailing careful maintenance through the years, MOT certificates from 1977 and tax disks from 1978. This type of provenance is exactly what you dream about finding, but very seldom see and it’s a delightful addition to an already special car.
Comes complete with a fresh MOT, BMIHT Certificate of Authenticity, summary of previous owners, plus a sheaf of invoices and photographs of recent (and not so recent) care throughout its charmed life.
In summary, this is one of the most distinctive TR6’s we’ve had the pleasure to bring to market. It ticks all the boxes – matching numbers, low mileage, low ownership and with a history to die for. It presents beautifully, with superb cosmetics with a ‘correct’ feel that’s very seldom seen.
Add into the mix a highly desirable colour combination and you arrive at a pretty unique TR6 that would be almost impossible to replicate. Highly recommended, this very special TR6 is available to view at our rural workshops located just outside Melton Mowbray.
