RH Classics is delighted to offer for sale this beautifully presented 1982 BMW 635CSi on behalf of its owner, one of our most valued long-term clients.

Finished in period perfect 149 Saphirblau Metallic coachwork, complimented by French Blue hide, matching dark blue carpets, and the original 20 hole alloy wheels.  Ordered new with every available option; electric windows, air conditioning, ABS braking system, PAS and an electric sunshine roof; this stunning E24 is a superbly stylish and practical Coupe in the Grand Touring tradition.

Early examples of the Paul Bracq styled E24 are now very rare here in the UK, with most having succumbed to corrosion and poor maintenance in mid-life.

Happily, this one has always led a pampered existence and presents today as a benchmark original car, with factory-correct engine bay, interior and exterior; even the supplying dealer number plates are still fitted, along with the original ‘635’ Worcestershire registration allocated when new.  Complete with original owners handbook, wallet, Weekend Emergency Service Guide and factory tool kit.

Having covered less than 80,000 miles from new, in the hands of just 3 owners and benefitting from a comprehensive body restoration back in 1997, with all work carried out by Robert Stern Ltd of Evesham, the BMW franchised dealer for Worcestershire.  Included in the history file are original invoices for factory supplied parts in excess of £10,000, before paint and labour.

On completion, the car spent considerable time on display in their showroom and as a result has covered barely 1500 miles since the work was completed almost a quarter of a century ago. 

Purchased by the current owner, an avid enthusiast of original BMW’s in January 2020 and over the last 10 months he has invested a further £14,000 with us in recommissioning the car for reliable, regular use, which has included the following:  

  • Major service, including new front and rear brake disks, calipers, pads and belts
  • Replacement air conditioning condenser, full pipework and system recharge
  • New factory sourced exhaust and shock absorbers
  • Refurbished headlamp wash/wipe and electric window motors
  • Comprehensive floorpan cavity wax treatment
  • New old stock rear headrest speaker covers
  • Retro fit period-look DAB Bluetooth radio, new speakers and rear parking sensors
  • Refurbished alloys and replacement delivery specification Michelin TRX tyres

As a result of the work carried out by us, it now drives beautifully and is a car you could happily use every day; it’s fast when it needs to be, but in operation remains remarkably civilised, demonstrating a level of engineering integrity that just isn’t present in similar ‘premium’ cars of the period. 

Back then, BMW described these cars as ‘the ultimate driving machine’ and we can see why – it wasn’t just Munich marketing speak – here, the experience really does live up to the promise. 

In summary, a benchmark example of BMW’s shark nosed Coupe; built in the golden period of 635 production when BMW’s were rarely seen on UK roads and were rightly regarded as something special.  Low ownership, low mileage and genuinely immaculate, but not too good to use! 

The car is now regretfully for sale as advancing years means our customer is sadly unable to enjoy it as originally intended, so if you’re looking to acquire a super-correct early E24 6 Series Coupe, it will not disappoint and is quite possibly unrepeatable at £27,000.
